In the 19th century
1836: Schneider brothers take over the then-ailing Creusot foundry (71), and two years later they form Schneider & Cie. [1]
1891: Schneider, having become a specialized weapons manufacturer, begins to innovate and reform itself in the then emerging electricity market.
The first half of the 20th century
In 1919 schneider established bases in Germany and eastern Europe through the European Industrial and Financial Union (EIFU). In the following years, Schneider expanded its business into the manufacture of power stations, electrical equipment and electric locomotives by forming an alliance with Westinghouse, then the leading international electrical group. After the war: Schneider phased out weapons manufacturing and moved into construction, steel, and electricity. To diversify its business and open new markets, Schneider has undergone an overall restructuring. [1]
Late 20th century
1981-1997: Schneider Electric abandoned some non-strategic activities and continued to focus on the power industry. In order to implement this strategy, Schneider made several strategic acquisitions: TE electric, Fast Power and Meran Geran became members of Schneider Electric group in 1988, 1991 and 1992 respectively. [1]
1999: Schneider made great progress in the ultra terminal area through the acquisition of Lexel, the second largest distributor in Europe. In May 1999, the group changed its name to Schneider Electric, which more clearly emphasized the company's commitment to the electrical field. The renamed Schneider Electric adopted a strategy of accelerating development and improving market competitiveness. [1]
2000-2009: with the development of their structure and company merger policies implemented, schneider electric has carried on the position itself in the new market segmentation, the market segmentation include: man-machine dialogue, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), motion control, voice data image system, sensing technology, building automation and security (such as Digital, Crouzet, Clipsal, MGE uninterruptible power supply system, the TAC, Kavlico, Andover control, etc.), etc. [1]
